TULSA, Okla. - OklaNews -- The Tulsa Air and Space Museum invites the public to celebrate the opening of its newest permanent exhibition, Beyond Boundaries: Tulsa and the Space Race, with a free ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday, March 6, 2026, at 2:00 PM.
This compelling new exhibit explores Tulsa's pivotal yet often overlooked role in America's journey to space—highlighting the people, industries, and innovations that helped propel the nation into the Space Age. From aerospace manufacturing to engineering breakthroughs, Beyond Boundaries places Tulsa firmly on the map of space exploration history.
The exhibition was curated by renowned space historian and author Bill Moore, whose research brings fresh perspective and depth to Oklahoma's aerospace legacy. Moore is widely respected for his work documenting America's spaceflight history and the individuals behind it.
"We are proud to share a story that connects Tulsa's aerospace heritage to the global Space Race," said Tonya Blansett, Executive Director of the Tulsa Air and Space Museum. "This exhibit reflects our mission of Honoring the Past. Inspiring the Future.—and invites visitors of all ages to discover how innovation right here in Oklahoma helped shape human spaceflight."

The exhibit and opening celebration are made possible through the generous support of the Oklahoma Space Industry Development Authority and the Gelvin Foundation, whose commitment to education and aerospace advancement continues to impact students and families across the state.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony is free and open to the public, and attendees will be among the first to experience this immersive new exhibit.
