MUSKOGEE, Okla. - OklaNews -- Janet Holman Gillin has spent over 30 years serving others through roles in child welfare, developmental disabilities, job coaching, and workforce development. Her work across Kansas, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Arkansas has helped individuals and families find stability, independence, and purpose.
Born and raised in Okay, Oklahoma, Janet earned a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Wichita State University. Though she began with a passion for teaching, her career quickly shifted to human services. In Kansas, she worked as a Child Welfare Specialist focused on family reunification, ensuring children had safe homes to return to.
In 1991, Janet joined the Oklahoma Department of Human Services as a Case Manager in the Developmental Disabilities Division. She played a key role in the closure of Hissom Memorial Center, helping transition residents from institutional care to community-based support.
